Nacion Black Flag por Be-DAO

Nación Black Flag (AKA Nación Bankless) emerged independently in May 2023, branching off from BanklessDAO's International Media Nodes (IMN) project where we’ve operated since November 2021. Our journey has seen us grow within the web3 sphere by translating key web3 information into Spanish, creating engaging content through newsletters and podcasts, organizing in-person onboarding events, coordinating marketing efforts, and participating and organizing Gitcoin rounds— all while promoting a culture of decentralization.

Now established as a BanklessDAO protoDAO, our mission is to share the benefits of web3 with the Spanish-speaking community. We achieve this through educational initiatives such as our Newsletter, Podcasts, Videos, Webinars, and our recent incursion into dApps. With two+ years of experience, we continue to build and simplify the path for individuals entering Web3, making it accessible and enjoyable.

The problem

Nación Black Flag is honored to help tackle the challenges faced by Spanish-speaking Latin Americans in accessing quality information and financial services within the web3 ecosystem. With English dominating online content, constituting 50% while Spanish content remains at only 5% (according to w3techs.com), and despite English proficiency rates ranging between 4% and 24% in non-English speaking Latin American countries (as per Wikipedia), a vast majority of the population lacks access to crucial information. Coupled with the fact that between 50% and 70% of the Latin American population is unbanked or underbanked (according to microsoft.com), there is a clear need for innovative solutions. By offering web3 content in Spanish, we aim to bridge these gaps and empower the approximately 400 million Spanish-speaking Latin Americans, opening doors to a reality of financial inclusion and opportunities previously out of reach.

The Situation of Crypto

In Latin America, things have changed a lot in the last 10 years, we have practically lived through devaluation after devaluation, as well as money printing, a very poor quality of life and very high costs. Hence, many people have sought now and always an escape from the reality in which we exist, leaving aside many of their dreams and expectations, living frustrated and unable to get ahead. Despite the evolution of web2 projects, creating centralized exchanges, it’s still difficult for us to access them, because of limits in regulation and prohibitions, many now ask for KYC, credit cards which we cannot access and it is increasingly difficult to make a P2P exchange and despite making magnificent DeFi projects, platforms for buying, selling and lending NFT and even donations, it is still extremely complex for the average user or even non-crypto to enter and know this ecosystem.

And How?

Nación Black Flag value proposition is to create a media community from the ground up, connecting people who know little or nothing about the ethos of Decentralization, coordination, public goods, security, privacy with the crypto ecosystem, using our audiovisual, newsletters and community management resources to give them the confidence and security to navigate their own journey.

There are hundreds of excellent applications for teaching basic concepts and project knowledge, but there are very few that help you create your first experiences as a community.

What do we currently have?

Nación Black Flag Newsletter, in this section of our community, we take care of the people, and it's always writing about everything that it's happening, personal emotions and science.
Media: Podcast and Youtube Videos, we are dedicated to knowing the Latin American projects of the ecosystem, What are they creating? How did we help them? What were the challenges, barriers and successes? leaving exactly that seed in each person who listens to us, to launch their projects or dive into the ecosystem
Community: We have a Discord for work tool, although now we are heading the creation of Twitter Spaces, Telegram, as well as real-life events for our friends.
Telegram: To talk and make strong foundations with the community.

Why do we need funds?

The market has hit us very ugly in many ways, and we are not only talking about the economic aspect, but we lost talent, developers, writers, artists, economists, many valuable people within the ecosystem left or returned to their current jobs, abandoning the dream of being Bankless.

Currently the ecosystem has been full of scams and projects of the same people who only seek to fund their bags, every day we see the same faces in different projects, collecting funds, without providing much value to the community, leaving simple ideas, little showy or without connections.

With this, our intention is to keep surviving in this bear market and help others making good content, help and help every day more. The intention is to teach all the people who are entering the ecosystem to use crypto in a very simple way, to find their first web3 job, collaborate in a DAO and slowly start creating the future of Nacion Black flag

Our intention now is the creation of multiple projects in the medium and long term:

Nación Black Flag: It is about the heart of the work, events, public relations, newsletters, spaces and social media. It really is where the community vibrates.
Staking4: The staking4 project, intends to deposit funds in ETH into the Meta Pool, from our customised and decentralised link staking4.eth.limo in which the proceeds are directed to public goods and community support.
Blockchain content section. All our content is minteable on Base, so here you can find out everything we are creating, in addition to the podcasts you can find on Zora.
NFT: We will generate in the medium term a collection of NFT gensis for those who have supported and guided us, in addition to raising funds for our sustainability and support our artists and creators.
Tokenology: Another proposal of the Grants committee was to create our own financing and payment mechanism for our ecosystem, leaving aside the current use of BANK to reduce inflation by creating an alternative token to allow the evolution of the Bankless Nation.
Ciencia Sinérgica : Decentralized science is a topic that is becoming more and more important every day and is the reason for my belief in crypto. To provide decentralized tools to provide knowledge as a public good. My specialty in Rheumatology has taken me very far, but every day I realize the control that exists in the market by pharmaceutical companies and the thousands of obstacles of medical journals, so along with Nación Bankless, we will continue to look for ways to support regeneration projects and creation of tools to decentralize publications and medical media.
Attestation Telegram Bot: We and another eleven communities managed to raise funds in Arbitrum Chain, to help the development of an EAS bot, to upload all the tickets and this is the result: https://github.com/Atesta-Bot. Our friends developed this and it's already attesting in Tesnets on Base, Optimism and ETH, now we need to continue building this on Arbitrum but we need help and funds to keep it going and release it to mainnet. Remember that this is a public good and we are creating more of this projects

The reality at Nation Bankless is that we have so much talent that we need to give back more in a market as hit as this bear market has been, but also at this time we need to encourage our talent to be able to take off.

How much are we asking?

As a DAO we are not driven by money, but as we grow we need to pay our talents, salaries for coordination, accountability and AV content creation, also as our mission.

At least, with these funds we are going to be capable to pay at least the minimum universal income to our DAOists, since they were working for more than a year, winning like one or two dollars per hour.

These funds are not static and are meant to grow and make Giveth, in their Spanish section, a special place in our hearts and minds.

To keep Nación Bankless alive we need to be sustainable in time and having your help, to grow everything in our native language it’s a great opportunity.
