Permaculture Action Network is a continent-wide collective that mobilizes thousands of people to take direct action on regenerative projects with a diversity of groups and organizations. We collaborate with performing artists and cultural events to invite people into hands-on work that regenerates ecosystems and catalyzes the movement for a just transition.

We work at the edge of art, music, culture, and the regenerative community movement, offering people a pathway to take action locally where they live through Permaculture Action Days, Permaculture Action Hubs, and Permaculture Action Courses; our approach is to create events that are easy to engage in and sprout long-lasting movement involvement.

Due to COVID-19, we're focusing on building a Just Transition Map - a map of community spaces, infrastructure, and place-based projects that are establishing viable alternatives to the extractive economy. These include urban farms providing free and affordable organic food to low income folks, community gardens growing and distributing medicine, and other community spaces providing for people’s material needs while restoring ecosystem health and building land-based autonomy.

We’re creating a piece of movement infrastructure to be used by the environmental justice movement as a whole. The Just Transition Map will be a major resource for people looking to discover what place-based projects exist in their area—this will enable thousands of people to: get involved in local projects’ activities for the first time, fund project organizers and make donations, strengthen local networks, and facilitate the distribution of resources as mutual aid. 

Most importantly, the Just Transition Map will act as a vector of community building for each site represented on the map. These are the place-based projects literally feeding their communities while regenerating degraded ecosystems and improving biodiversity.
