<h2>Background</h2>In August 2022, the US authorities blacklisted Tornado Cash as a "sanctioned entity," resulting in the arrests of two developers: Alexey Pertsev (The Netherlands, 2022) and Roman Storm (The U.S., 2023). Arrests of&nbsp;Storm and Pertsev are considered a <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2023/08/25/tornado-cash-co-founders-charged-in-the-us-with-more-than-1-billion-in-money-laundering/?sh=5e3d76187b99" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">direct attack</a> on the open-source development space.In May 2024,&nbsp;Pertsev was <a href="https://www.dlnews.com/articles/people-culture/alexey-pertsev-accused-of-laundering-1bn-at-tornado-cash/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">found guilty</a> of money laundering and received a max sentence of 64 months in prison.&nbsp;Roman Storm's trial in the US is scheduled for December 2024. Its outcome will set precedents for privacy in web3 and the freedom to publish code.&nbsp; <h2>How to Help</h2>This project&nbsp;is fundraising for Roman Storm's defense and the associated costs in preparation for his trial. He currently needs approx. $2 million to see this case through. Hey all, we're building free and open source tools to help you stay safe in web3! 👋 To use tokens in decentralised applications such as Uniswap you have to grant the application permission to spend tokens on your behalf - known as a token approval. Token approvals are an important part of using these apps, but can be dangerous if left unchecked. Bugs can exists and exploits can happen even in established projects, and by granting token approvals you are potentially exposing your wallet to these exploits. To keep yourself safe from exploits it is a good practice to regularly inspect and revoke your approvals. Revoke.cash comes in as a preventative tool to manage your token approvals and practice proper wallet hygiene. By regularly revoking active approvals you reduce the chances of becoming the victim of exploits. In many cases, phishing websites try to make you sign an approval while they pretend to be an NFT mint or other legitimate use cases. When these phishing scams happen, it is recommended to use Revoke.cash to mitigate the damage, but it is even better to prevent the scam in the first place. This is where the Revoke.cash Browser Extension comes in. The extension pops up whenever you are about to sign an approval and will inform you of the approval's details. One is called DeFiVulnLabs, which allows users to learn about 47 common security vulnerabilities and vulnerability testing in Solidity.Later, I created a detailed testing manual for these 47 vulnerabilities, including testing methods and remediation recommendations. This manual is a Solidity security testing handbook.The other tool is called DeFiHackLabs. I used the Foundry framework to develop attack reproduction proofs of concept (PoCs), which are recreations of past attacks on DeFi protocols. This allows developers to see how attackers exploited these vulnerabilities, with the hope of preventing similar vulnerabilities in the future. Initially, I had less than 20 PoCs. To date, this repository has collected PoCs for 419 DeFi incidents.It has 92 contributors.I, as an individual, have limited influence in promoting web3 security.
