Grassroots Economics seeks to connect people to their own abundance by supporting them in pooling their commitments or resources together in the form of Community Asset Vouchers - which are blockchain based credit obligations backed by the goods and services of community groups in vulnerable communities in Kenya and growing to other countries. By leveraging Web3 solutions, AgroforestDAO fosters engagement through gamified governance, education, and reputation-building, ultimately contributing to the expansion of regenerative finance (ReFi) in the agricultural sector. The project seeks to establish intergenerational and perennial production systems that transcend traditional agricultural models by using community-based practices. The DAO's goal is to build a global community of stakeholders who support and participate in sustainable agricultural initiatives. By combining blockchain’s transparency, immutability and open protocols with agroecological knowledge, AgroforestDAO aims to create an ecosystem where stakeholders can play different roles, such as apprentice, guide, mentor, professional, investor, institutions, land owners and volunteers, engaging in positive sum actions.<img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmUmtxnoYBZ8kXCk3X8o8C7XJuFTPNobfiLriSbpbQvv9t"> <h2>Building a Rooted Network Society</h2>AgroforestDAO network is made of local agroecossystems managed by stewards connected to the network and exchanging many different capitals involved in the reproduction of food forest culture. We leverage the social validation that happens during tourism, volunteering, and regional events to attest stewardship while exchanging the culture. This contribution recognition feeds the community channels of Retroactive Funding, Commitment Pools, QF Rounds, Joint Ventures and other forms of resource allocation.&nbsp; Early last year we received minigrants from Arbitrum, from Gitcoin donors, web2 donors and these funds are now being streamed to a newborn network of stewards building different forms of value to the DAO.&nbsp; <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmcP9UJGAAt9hTWqyf4SGi4kYqQBTYk45LKg9W2vdFrWZT">in September we announced our first online learning journey and planted the rice, peanuts, corn and other summer crops in our pilot agroecosystem, Redemption Hill.&nbsp; The “Jornada AgroforestDAO” happened in October and thanks to a professional SM campaign focused on Instagram and Linkedin we got 100 applications that resulted in 80 contacts in our Telegram and 20 built their agroforestry project profiles in our Charmverse. They experienced being in a bounty quest using the Impact Miner from AtlantisDAO and were able to apply and donate to many projects in GG22.&nbsp; <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmUCpQwg2dvsKYeKWwMN1Dbk2avPiBuWESp4ZF18itqut2"> Last December we ran a QF round for the apprentices holding POAPs from our 6-week AgroforestDAO Journey. In the round there were 13 local projects and one collective safe account for the apprentices to start practicing governance. <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmRP4UoZKrfUF9FvY2p4oypaQFHqUUxYKqugGS926KQCzg"> In January there’s a lot going on also, things are full speed in web3… We are using the Sarafu Network on Celo, to create Commitment Pools of vouchers for different products and services. We are starting to certify and qualify volunteering in our network by empowering hosts to manage keys in a Unlock-Protocol account. Some of our nodes are members of web2 volunteering networks such as Backpackers and Workaway and the demand for support from hosts and volunteers emerged. So the AgroforestDAO Volunteer Network is being built with a combination of Unlock-Protocol for certification and e-mail onboarding and Sarafu Network commitment pools for liquidity access. Regenerative Agriculture Systems</h2><h3>Kendir Hemp Project</h3>The Kendir Hemp Project serves as our foundational initiative focused on revitalizing Turkish hemp agriculture. For seven years, our core team has cultivated, processed, and sold hemp products, creating a viable model for regenerative business. We've preserved heirloom cannabis seeds in our off-grid seed bank, safeguarding Türkiye's agricultural heritage. Through distribution of over 16 million hemp seeds across diverse regions, we've expanded the regenerative hemp economy while working closely with small-scale farmers. Our developing decentralized micro-processing facilities address infrastructure gaps, ensuring economic benefits remain within rural communities while creating a network of living laboratories for agricultural innovation. <h3>Regenerative Cotton Project</h3>In partnership with Raddis Cotton and Hasat Cooperative, we transform conventional cotton cultivation into regenerative systems. Through integrated practices including cover cropping, minimal tillage, and biological inputs, we rebuild soil health in fields traditionally depleted by conventional methods. Our participatory research with cotton farmers develops locally-adapted protocols that improve both yields and ecosystem function while reducing dependency on synthetic inputs. This project demonstrates how commodity crops can sequester carbon, enhance water cycles, and support biodiversity while challenging the notion that cotton must be environmentally destructive. <h3>Earthryai Olive Oils</h3>The Earthryai Olive Oils program applies agrohomeopathic principles to traditional olive cultivation, using minimal, targeted interventions to enhance tree health and resilience. Working with established olive groves, we've developed protocols that increase drought tolerance and disease resistance while improving oil quality. This approach allows ancient olive landscapes to function as integrated agroecosystems where production coexists with habitat preservation. We are a community of regenerators bringing the Mediterranean back to life. Members host frequent workshops about permaculture, syntropic agroforestry, blockchain education, bioregionalism, and much more using the website mego.cx Balancing traditional customs, and modern digital technology, we are forging a unique path in how we design and grow a sovereign regenerative economy. Sicily is a top international tourist destination, so providing regenerative travel and work opportunities for visitors is a big part of the transition. Financial support received from Giveth will go directly to supporting the on-the-ground projects to bootstrap and kickstart their enterprise such as seed harvesting, building nursery, beach cleanups, and other initiatives. What We Do The previous round of doonations helped us host a weeklong ReFi event where we-Planted 400 moringa trees that will provide super nutritious food for humans, biomass for soil, and habitat for animals and insects. -Kickstarted the foundation of a syntropic Agroforestry food forest and incepted it's title, "Butterfly Hill". -Made over 500 seed balls with native species -Held activities at 6 different locations around the bioregion. -Used dMRV platform Silvi Protocol to log the planted trees using smart phones and drone imagery. -Created an agroforestry ecocredit with Sunflower Ecotech -Writing a library of Italian language regenerative finance and permaculture educational content. Nestled in a lush green valley near Bangalore, India, our 13+ acre sanctuary is home to over 300 species of flora and fauna. We promote sustainable and chemical-free farming, native biodiversity, and eco-conscious living. This may have caused soil degradation and droughts in different parts of Uganda. It is important to carry out a quick interventions to restore the lost forests glory; We have therefore arrived at a solution to plant more extra trees and other measures to tackle the climate crisis.<img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmRXpewQwXdt99cpwdHqp6dvW71WchFQufP93VZpsYAqbR">AYOWECCA UGANDA has launched two million tree planting program to minimize Environment impacts&nbsp;from tree degradation as well as to improve the nutritional status of the community mainly shade and fruit trees are to be planted in both schools and Communities in Uganda. To stimulate domestic increments in forest cover through the establishment of a regional forestry nursery. The target is to raise 50000 plants in the nursery that will be planted in the region. &nbsp;Trees contribute a lot to the Environment over a long periods by providing oxygen, improving air quality, Climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil and supporting wildlife. We have chosen to grow and plant more trees. To grow, distribute seedlings and also participate in tree planting. To plant fruit trees in Schools, health centers and in Communities where we live. To foster every Ugandan to plant 5-10 trees every year. To have a nationalisms alert for the Climate Crisis and actions to be taken. Beyond a community hub, we are a project incubator that initiates and nurtures projects that provide accompaniment of local farmers, producers and artisans in the fortification of a local economic system. Over the last 4 years we have set up multiple projects that are strengthening the community ties and sense of solidarity among the local community. These projects are now looking for resources to expand their impact.&nbsp; ‘Our approach begins with building trusting relationships that facilitate accompaniment and mutual respect. This lays the foundation to initiate and incubate the projects that directly answer to the needs of locals and can be spun off to the hands of the local people over time.’ Besides our community projects, the spaces of Los Higuerones itself are living examples of how we can live more harmoniously within our natural environment.&nbsp;The non-built areas of the property have grown from bare patches of dirt to abundant permaculture inspired gardens for food, fertility, and fancy.&nbsp;In addition…the built space has been curated into a multi-use “campus” with spaces for workshops, classes, meetings, gatherings and the like as well as accomodations for hosting work-traders, special visitors and groups of people focused on support for our Osa community.&nbsp;

Community-based resiliency hub on the Osa Peninsula

As a local community in the middle, the communities mainly women farmers and their families, they are confronted with the inaccessibility to health services, firstly because the health care structures are not developed and do not have the financial ressources, to pay for these health services.To create a community that works for the restoration of the land, the protection of the environment, we also need to offer them modern health services to be healthy. In addition to the restoration project that we are developing, we have also created the healthcare program which is a community healthcare system which help the community to have access to the healthcare services by creating healthcare facilities in remote rural areas. We are looking for donations to continue its extension, to continue to help the members of our production units(community Groupment to pay for healthcare services throuth community micro-health insurance for the rural farmers and their family members. This health care structure who care for our community members also serves more than 12,000 patients each year, mainly children and pregnant women.To make the project more solid and more independent, we organize the farming communities around savings groups of money generated, to contribute to the payments of these community mutual funds. Vulnerable Ug Communities (VUC) was founded in 2017 by Kamya Martin Oscar and Waswa Charles, two visionary leaders passionate about empowering marginalized communities. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, VUC launched its setup in 2020, starting with five pioneering communities. Diamante Luz is a space for integrated collaboration and cooperation with nature. Our residents, neighbors, and visitors have been drawn to the area in order to co-create a space for living and working in balance with all of our relations. As the first node of the Diamante Bridge Collective, we are passionate about the integration of permaculture and shared common land-based resources. We offer learning environments for ecological wellness and restoration so all ages can share knowledge and connect with the wisdom of this place. We provide spaces for things such as:<ul><li>Cultural centers for artisans</li><li>Processing kitchens for medicinal and food preparations</li><li>Syntropic food forests for food security&nbsp;</li><li>Mentoring those passionate about becoming leaders of local food movements&nbsp;</li><li>Environmentally responsible regenerative businesses</li></ul> All whilst offering the space for personal development through community interaction. We are an evolving eco-village of nomadic co-creators at the beginning stages of development with many opportunities for regenerative investment for the benefit of future generations.&nbsp; The land itself has drawn us in with two majestic waterfalls of dramatically different characters, a spring that is in need of replenishment through reforestation efforts, and a three hectare section of land that we have set aside as protected forest and waterways.&nbsp; Much of our work takes place in transforming the ten hectares of pasture into a thriving live/work community with opportunities for collective and personal land stewardship. Emerging and developing countries, especially in remote locations, are most affected by environmental degradation and climate change. However, they often lack the resources to take meaningful action, making them entirely dependent on the decisions of other countries.It is estimated that an annual investment of $5 trillion is needed to combat climate change. Of this figure, emerging and developing countries (EMDEs) need $2 trillion annually, a fivefold increase from 2020 (IMF, 2023). Without the right infrastructure to coordinate such significant budgets, it's unlikely that EMDEs will be able to attract $2 trillion annually and take the required actions. Local NGOs, businesses, and individuals in these EMDEs must be included in the solution to increase the socioeconomic support base for such action. Kolektivo allows local stakeholders to leverage their positive impact to start local impact-driven economies that regenerate communities and nature. Kolektivo combines a web platform for stakeholders and a mobile app for individuals to create local impact economies based on the positive impact created. By making the impact created more visible and streamlining the coordination of resources between stakeholders through our platform, we encourage local development. Due to the community currency created in our platform and the ability for users to earn skill badges, the pilot also supports capacity building and financial inclusion. Impact partners and local businesses can support a local Kolektivo community and, in exchange, receive a visual claim on the impact created by a specific project or niche. The positive PR effects are more significant when supporting local ESG initiatives. Our primary users are NGO managers who request community currency budgets from the local community to organize impact activities. Users earn community currencies, which they can spend at impact partners and skill points to participate in these activities.

This cycle leaves them unable to invest in sustainable practices, leading to soil degradation from chemical-heavy agriculture. Young people, seeing no future in farming, migrate to cities, and when older generations pass, inherited land is often sold to large corporations that further degrade the environment with mechanized, chemical-intensive methods. This pattern threatens the livelihoods of rural communities worldwide, exacerbating poverty, environmental decline, and climate change. <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmeTHBJitVv8hvRBPCsQPd6ZnEYu7mL9YseehxP7ms8TbW">Our SolutionGreen Evolutions ReFi Village will establish a regenerative ecosystem to address these challenges head-on, with four key IRL components:<ul><li> The Buffaloes Garden Distillery: We will build a distillery that purchases raw rice (12,457 kg/year) and sugarcane (14,286 kg/year) directly from 30 local farmers, producing 7,000 bottles of rum, vodka, and gin annually. The distillery will pay farmers 1.5x market rates in cash (19.5 THB/kg vs. 13 THB/kg), providing immediate financial relief and breaking the pre-selling cycle. Waste from the distillery will be repurposed into organic fertilizer, which will be provided to farmers for free, encouraging organic farming practices and reducing their reliance on costly chemical inputs.</li><li>Holistic Training Center for Sustainable Farming: We plan to establish a training center to educate 200 farmers per year in organic farming techniques, biochar application, and sustainable land management. The center will include greenhouses for year-round crop production, outdoor ponds for growing fish and irrigating crops, a composting zone to recycle organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, and a free-range chicken area to integrate poultry farming. In-person workshops and online courses will be offered to both local farmers and global audiences, spreading knowledge of regenerative practices and supporting our operations through participant contributions.</li><li>Biochar Production for Carbon Sequestration: We aim to produce 10 tons of biochar per year using rice hulls (2,491 kg from our rice processing) and local agricultural waste (e.g., sugarcane bagasse, maize stalks, bamboo). Biochar locks carbon into the soil for centuries, with 1 ton sequestering ~2.5 tons of CO2e (IPCC estimate). Our 10 tons will sequester 25 tons CO2e annually. This biochar will be applied to local farmland, improving soil health and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers, while contributing to climate change mitigation.</li><li>Biogas System for Sustainability: We will install a biogas system using cow manure to power the distillery sustainably, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The slurry byproduct will be repurposed into additional organic fertilizer, further supporting farmers and closing the loop on waste.</li></ul>ImpactOur initiative will deliver transformative outcomes for the Isan community and the environment:<ul><li>Economic Empowerment: By paying 1.5x market rates and providing free organic fertilizer, we aim to increase farmers’ effective income, enabling them to reinvest in their farms and families while breaking free from the pre-selling cycle.</li><li>Environmental Regeneration: We plan to sequester 25 tons of CO2e per year through biochar, mitigating climate change, while regenerating 100 hectares of degraded soil with organic practices. The biogas system will reduce the distillery’s carbon footprint, and the training center’s greenhouses, fish ponds, and composting zone will promote sustainable farming methods.</li><li>Social Resilience: Training 200 farmers annually in organic practices—supported by hands-on learning in greenhouses, fish farming, composting, and free-range poultry—will equip them with diverse skills to farm sustainably, fostering community resilience. At Eco Moyo, we limit classes to a maximum of 25 students to ensure quality education, a caring environment&nbsp;and that every child is truly seen and supported. They offer students opportunities to grow personally and develop essential skills beyond the classroom.&nbsp;Through activities like&nbsp;football, taekwondo, arts and crafts, agriculture-computer- and&nbsp;English clubs, our students learn teamwork, communication&nbsp;and problem-solving skills while exploring their passions, building confidence&nbsp;and developing a positive self-image. <h3>In 2025 there are 200 children attending Eco Moyo&nbsp;</h3><ul><li>On average our classes have 25 students per teacher.</li><li>All our students live within the geographical boundaries of Dzunguni Village.&nbsp;</li><li>Our youngest students in PP1 (pre-primary 1) are only 4-5 years old when they start school.</li><li>Coming from families who most often only speak their tribe language Giriama - they start learning both Swahili and English straight away.&nbsp;</li></ul> <h3>Continuous support for former students through Junior Secondary school.</h3> <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmP6MvtBrU4BX9WrW8qNHrwc9S44znRcirFeAyDkdbUwmt">​This year, thanks to a generous sponsor, we’ve started supporting our former students as they continue their education in junior secondary (class 7-9). We work with local schools in the area and cover all costs for our former Eco Moyo students, including school fees, admission fees, exam fees&nbsp;and school uniforms. For schools that offer lunch, we provide this as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since class 7-9 are&nbsp;no longer a part of primary education, the fees are generally higher.&nbsp;We’ve seen that some of our graduates couldn’t continue to junior secondary due to financial challenges, so this support plays a key role in helping them move forward in their education. <h3>How Eco Moyo is different</h3> Although Kenya implemented a&nbsp;free education policy&nbsp;in 2003, there are many hidden costs which makes attending school difficult for children from low-income families. Eco Moyo is a private primary school - without any fees. The Revillaging Mutual Mentorships Program, a cornerstone initiative within the Diamante Bridge Collective, has evolved in 2024 to offer an enriched experience for individuals seeking to learn leadership skills, gain hands-on experience in community management, and contribute to ecosystem restoration.Designed by Dani Bellavita, this program is modeled after the principles outlined in the "ReInhabiting the Village" book project. The DBC Visa program successfully brought local elder Desiree Wells onboard as a certified permaculture instructor, contributing deep knowledge of the region’s natural ecosystem. This achievement not only enriches the program for 2024, it also underscores our commitment to empowering local talent, supporting elders in the community, and fostering sustainable practices. Program founder Danibelle played a pivotal role in expanding network cooperation with the DBC across land-based community projects both established already and newly entering the Diamante Valley. Dani's efforts extend beyond local boundaries, addressing regional challenges by by cultivating collaborations, coordinating consultations and providing coaching to individuals both within the DBC membership and in adjacent organizations, teaching and speaking at no charge. <h2>About</h2><h2>Creating Self-Sustaining Ecosystems for Community Resilience and Wellbeing</h2> Our project aims to inspire new perspectives and provide skills to enable people to facilitate resilience and wellbeing for themselves and their communities. We collaborate with various experts and local communities to attract the attention of eco-conscious communities to our developments and achievements in regenerating degraded lands into self-sustaining ecosystems. <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmfMmRewKvrsdqT5GZ1wivGCCZqHXZZ2wn6UdLEGL7BcDG">The Project Environment Located across 50 ecovillages and permaculture centres in Ukraine, our project leverages the expertise of local and international partners to transform degraded farmland into thriving, self-sustaining ecosystems. These settlements serve as living classrooms, featuring edible forest gardens, permaculture food systems, biochar production, and innovative agricultural practices. Key ecovillages include Omelyanivka, Kukhari, Tepla Hora, Tartak, Prostir Lyubovi and Bezvodne. These ecological spaces are supported by off-grid infrastructure, including solar power, water systems, native tree nurseries, tool sheds, greenhouses, and community spaces. <h2>Our Theory of Change</h2><h2> </h2>Our work is deeply connected to the land and the people of each ecovillage. We are guided by the stories, needs, and aspirations of the local communities we serve. By creating a Learning Environment that enhances and enables learning, we foster multidisciplinary educational experiences that empower individuals and communities. The health of our Learning Environment is interdependent with the health of the organization, the land, and the community. RehabilitationCamps: Programs like <a href="https://teplagora.org/en/kolo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kolo</a> provide refuges, veterans and social volunteers refuge and support for people who have had to flee their home because of the war in Ukraine and a deep connection to their cultural roots.2. This includes a catalog of achievements and low-tech solutions focusing on key aspects of our network's development: water, energy, common spaces, mobility, and youth exchange. We aim to present our materials and achievements at the following gatherings:- GEN Gathering in Sweden in August 2024- Regen Tribe Gathering in Portugal in September 2024- Regenerative Agriculture Conference Additionally, we seek to engage volunteer movements in training and volunteering at these offgrid ecovillages, enabling youth to gain skills in self-sustaining technologies. Every 7 days a group of volunteers organized by Los Higuerones and ASCONA both local and community-oriented organizations, go to a farm to help producers with different tasks. The main focus is to support local producers in improving their agricultural practices into more healthy and ecological ways for themselves and for their lands, supporting the food sovereignty of the area and the access to healthier products for the population of Puerto Jimenez. <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmXdQgTsuXP6nisdiDXyXZdeZa7U3oetpWrtLgxtn9FPPR">Osa Weavers - Council of Eight All members of the Council of Eight have their individual unique gifts and network to share. ReGenerOsa Collective - A Bioregional Flow Fund

At the Traditional Dream Factory we are&nbsp;pioneering a&nbsp;model for&nbsp;regenerative co-living,&nbsp;while creating&nbsp;positive loops in all interactions between stakeholders including nature,&nbsp;all life,&nbsp;and future generations 🌳&nbsp;The idea is to prove we can optimize resources while&nbsp;nurturing a creative and thriving community&nbsp;and at the same time&nbsp;leave a positive trace&nbsp;on the environment. The Traditional Dream Factory (TDF)&nbsp;is&nbsp;manifested&nbsp;in an old poultry factory built in 1972. Adjacent to the factory, we have a 7 years lease for 4.6 ha of land with an option to buy&nbsp;24.5ha more of&nbsp;land with beautiful hills and valleys, protected oak trees, a flowing river, an old rammed earth built farmhouse,&nbsp;and the old Abela’s community mill.&nbsp;Currently, we are regenerating (creating a food forest, swells for collecting rainwater, natural ponds,&nbsp;etc) 4.6 ha of land right behind the factory and revamping the old chicken factory into a&nbsp;co-living space&nbsp;that will be shared between&nbsp;80-100&nbsp;members. The space will be architected so that it offers mostly everything that one needs to&nbsp;live creatively, purposefully,&nbsp;and connected 💚 Our little dream is powered by web3 tech 🚀 Our model is the following: <ul><li>We created an association with the aim of serving land regeneration - OASA. OASA holds our land title. All land projects connected under OASA have to embody its Land Regeneration Principles (50% re-wilding, 45% food systems, 5% human co-living).</li><li>Each land project under OASA has its own DAO, with its own governance model and token.</li><li>TDF is the first OASA land project, we are prototyping it all!</li></ul> We are building our DAO and Proof of Presence for our decentralised and distributed governance. Proof of Presence means that the more nights you spend with us - you book with your TDF tokens - the more influence you have in TDF DAO. To this, later on, we want to add Proof of Sweat - not only your presence at TDF, but also weighting your contributions to the space. TDF is crafted fully regenerative and circular. Members lay their contributions in sweat or money, and any profit made within our ecosystem is collectively governed by the DAO ⭕️ We are in the process of documenting all our journey - from land designs, social designs, legal processes, all of it. We dream of making it all open source so that other communities can use our prototype to craft their own regenerative systems, and thus boost regeneration 🌱 this grant will support us in continuing building our DAO, supporting our documentation team and probably planting some trees.
