Update Summer 2023: I wanted to update everyone on the progress and how we are surprised and overwhelmed by the amount of eager students joining&nbsp;us in the summer 2023 cohort.&nbsp; In the Summer 2021 course, we had&nbsp;<a href="https://smartcontract.coiniran.com/t/topic/916" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">35 Iranian students of which 9 graduated</a>. Later on when we released all the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDwI1rIhknpNyUWdFt_XD6rpTEjTkUcYo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">material online,</a>&nbsp;we got more than 100 students (40K+ views on the course). This summer, we just&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzYoap5f4Kc" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">released the first session</a>&nbsp;which got more than 1100 views (200 watched live, and 800 in the first 48 hours). Thanks to your support, we were able to educate over 500 Farsi speaking people about blockchain and smart contract coding (Solidity).&nbsp; Over a year ago, seven different women (now <a href="https://twitter.com/crypt0zan" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Women in Blockchain Farsi</a>) living in different parts of the world heard about a <a href="https://coiniran.com/empowering-iranian-women-with-blockchain/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">scholarship</a> for the ConsenSys Academy smart contract development course for Farsi-speaking women. This opportunity, organized by the non-profit educational organization “CoinIran”’s founder <a href="https://twitter.com/baharlikespring" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bahar</a> and Women in Blockchain’s Founder <a href="https://twitter.com/thessymehrain?lang=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Thessy Mehrain</a> (also ½ Iranian), was designed to teach all the fundamentals of smart contract development. All seven women who applied for this program <a href="https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/consensys-grants-help-iranian-women-130000273.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">successfully graduated the course</a>. This indeed was huge for us. Participating in an international course, coming from Iran, enabled us to overcome some of the everyday challenges imposed on Iranian society. Words cannot describe how grateful we are for this opportunity! This opened new doors in the world of decentralized technology and blockchain. We were able to take on freelance coding projects and even participate in hackathons! Now we want to help others do the same and here is why: There is a general lack of resources and educational content in the native language of these regions, posing major obstacles to Farsi speaking communities when it comes to accessing finance and decentralized technology. The Farsi-speaking community has a population of more than 120 million, located in West Asia in Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Iran. Recently, the Taliban government in Afghanistan has banned all girls from schools and has even closed universities. Moreover, heavy sanctions imposed on Iranian citizens has limited them from accessing most social media platforms via <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2021/07/20/defi-isnt-better-than-tradfi-if-people-cant-use-it/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">geoblocking</a> and even <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2021/11/24/consensys-suddenly-bars-iranian-students-from-ethereum-coding-class/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">blocking educational platforms</a>, in this way making it difficult to gain access to accurate and up to date education content.&nbsp; Last year, we created the <a href="https://smartcontract.coiniran.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">smart contract development forum</a> to share and build on the knowledge we acquired through this course and participating in hackathons. The forum grew fast and is now an active platform for Farsi speaking community consisting of over 550 members.&nbsp; <img src="https://c.gitcoin.co/docs/53f9de5cd349a544c908939fbd642d55/Screen_Shot_2021-12-06_at_8.17.47_PM.png"> We also taught a <a href="https://www.coiniran.academy/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Smart Contract course</a> in the summer of 2021. The request for participation in this course exceeded the capacity of the class with 150 applicants. However, given the limited volunteer labour and resources, we only accepted 35 eligible students. The course was co-founded and instructed by <a href="https://twitter.com/crypt0zan" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Women in Blockchain Farsi</a>, and mentored by <a href="https://twitter.com/sbetamc" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Shayan Eskandari</a>. The course ran for 3 months and featured more than 40 hours of online classes and <a href="https://smartcontract.coiniran.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">technical articles</a>.&nbsp; In this course, students were first introduced to the basic concepts of blockchain and Ethereum, and were taught all the technical skills needed to develop smart contracts and decentralized applications.&nbsp; Thanks to the endless labour of our volunteers, the course was well received by students. We had a diverse range of students, even <a href="https://twitter.com/shiryakhat/status/1464840048436723713" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">as young as 13 years old</a>! We build bridges between climate entrepreneurs, academics, technologists, funders, NGOs, and international public institutions.&nbsp;We do this through the production of conferences, hackathons, and builder residencies, and by collaborating with other organizations to implement pilots and funding rounds that forward novel web3 climate technologies and funding mechanisms. In 2024, we are hosting events in the San Francisco Bay Area, in Switzerland, and in Thailand. Our initiatives, including conferences, hackathons, and builder residencies, are designed to be accessible to all, with scholarships available for those who request them. Tickets to conferences are provided free of charge to anyone with financial needs, and our builder residencies always cover the full costs of room and board for all participants. We also offer travel stipends in some circumstances. We ensure inclusivity by uploading talks and sessions online and contributing to the open-source software ecosystem, advancing public knowledge and innovation in web3 climate technologies and funding mechanisms. All code produced during hackathons and residencies is free open source software. By connecting with inspiring minds and exploring topics such as environmental asset models, land stewardship innovations, and impact verification and measurement, we aim to facilitate incentive alignment, cooperation, and accountability to steward the Earth’s precious resources in perpetuity.&nbsp; Our mission is to transform the funding and governance of nature’s commons, such as the atmosphere, forests, oceans, biodiversity, freshwater reservoirs, and other ecosystems, by uniting the forces of Web2, Web3, research, philanthropy, and industry. An overwhelming amount of people have evacuated from Gaza to Cairo since October 2023 with more than half of them being children. Exposure to occupation, war and uncertainty can cause a state of shock but children in conflict show remarkable resilience and can recover with appropriate assistance such as mental health support, child friendly spaces where they can play, and education programs. El3eza strives to be a sanctuary for these children to express their emotions, process their trauma, discover themselves, and feel empowered to follow their dreams and passions with the support of their community.&nbsp; The word el3eza is difficult to translate, however, you could compare it to a mixture of pride, dignity and/or resilience but it's not just a word... its something you feel. El3eza Centre is a place that cultivates this feeling within everyone that visits - the children never stop saying "!غزة العزة".(Gaza El3eza!) <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmTUFoRwB6C6K878d1rC7zSgFYwdFg1A47jLkJWdz9Vefs"> El3eza offers the youth not only the safe space that they need to process their trauma with others who can relate but also the resources and support to define who they are and what lies ahead for them on the horizon of their currently undetermined future. This happens through creative activities as well as opportunities for expression, discovery, and empowerment. <h1>In the first 4 months</h1>The doors opened at El3eza Centre on July 15th 2024. Since then there has been an overwhelming sense of community established through numerous workshops, activities, and events. At least 1600 children have now passed through the doors. <h2>Football Program</h2>What started as a fun weekly game with 10-15 kids has developed into a full program consisting of 10 games per week involving more than 230 children each week. There has even been a Champion's League established and one of the players is in the process of being signed to Al Nasr Cairo Club professional team! <h2>Threads of Hope Program</h2>Tatreez, meaning ‘embroidery’ in Arabic, is used to refer to the traditional style of embroidery practiced in Palestine. In 2021, this art was recognized by&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UNESCO" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">UNESCO</a>&nbsp;as an important&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intangible_cultural_heritage" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">intangible cultural heritage</a>. The 'Threads of Hope' program hosted at El3eza aims to give Palestinian women in Cairo the opportunity to come together to learn this tradition while offering a safe space to relate, process their experiences, share their stories and form meaningful connections. As the women progress, they are creating pieces that are sold to support their collective efforts and give them an opportunity to generate income to support their families. So far, 40 women have completed this training series and have created beautiful pieces. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/threadofhope88?igsh=MTVkNHM2Y2JuNjF0NA%3D%3D&amp;utm_source=qr" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Check out their work here!</a> <h2>Dabke &amp; Breakdancing</h2>Some of the teens have stepped up and started leading their own workshops! These weekly sessions have given them a sense of purpose, igniting their existing passions and enabling them to pass down their traditions to others in their community. They have choreographed performances for some of the cultural events hosted at El3eza and a few of them were even invited to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1FuuKSXisu/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">perform at the Cairo International Film Festival 2024</a>! <h2>Cultural Events and Celebrations</h2>It is important to celebrate heritage and culture within community... especially when your culture is actively being erased. There have been a number of events hosted at El3eza that focuses on just this. Food, music, dancing, singing, sharing stories and breaking bread together are the key pillars bolstering these gatherings. <h2>Workshops and Activities</h2>In addition to the highlights above, El3eza offers a wide variety of ways to participate in the fun. Below are a few of the new opportunities currently on the horizon. Self-Directed Learning Program for TeenagersWe will soon begin to offer more to the adolescent age group. As a teenager, navigating life changes is stressful enough not to mention when everything has been turned upside down. In collaboration with <a href="https://youtu.be/InUAShk7wZ0?si=SGJXJbm2A-JTI3sO" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mesahat</a>, we plan to start a program for teens focused on self-directed democratic learning. Expanded Sports ProgramThe process has begun to build more professional football teams with regular training schedules and tournaments. The ultimate goal is to take one of the teams on an international trip to play against teams in South Africa. In addition to leveling up the football program, we are working to add other sports into the mix with opportunities to participate in sports like, basketball, swimming, and handball. <h2>Thank you all for your never-ending support! </h2>All donations collected by this project will be used to purchase supplies, provide snacks/drinks, and maintain the facilities.

<h2>Hello World! 🌊🐠✨</h2> <a href="https://linktr.ee/mesoreefdao" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">MesoReefDAO</a> (Mesoamerican Reef DAO) is a Regenerative Coral Reef Science project that focuses on the creation of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) of DeSci (Decentralized Science) that seeks to scale coral reef conservation efforts in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmcpiDp3sBiJESWxLDWmXtfq8Wpht4xbqWHWo3zVosWKL4"> The Mesoamerican Reef is one of the most biodiverse and productive marine ecosystems in the world, providing crucial ecosystem services, such as coastal protection, fisheries, and tourism, to millions of people in the region. It stretches over 1,000 kilometers from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to the Bay Islands in Honduras (Fig 1). <img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmY51bBh2CakufUVZzY2g93ak8Qh69afUzcNM1tjCdDHwi"><a href="https://www.wwfca.org/en/landscapes/mesoamerican_reef/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" class="ql-size-small">Fig 1. The DAO's governance structure is designed to be transparent, inclusive, and democratic, allowing anyone to participate and contribute to decision-making processes. The DAO's mission is to leverage the power of decentralized technologies to enable innovative solutions to the challenges facing the MAR. One of the key initiatives of MesoReefDAO is to develop a regenerative decentralized science (DeSci) offset program. The program will incentivize individuals and organizations to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to MAR conservation efforts. The fund will support the development and implementation of coral reef restoration projects in the MAR region. The fund will be managed by the DAO's community and will be open to contributions from anyone who wants to support the conservation and restoration of the MAR. Overall, MesoReefDAO is a cutting-edge initiative that seeks to harness the power of decentralized technologies to address the urgent challenges facing the Mesoamerican Reef. MesoReefDAO - Regenerating Reef Conservation with DeSci

Across the Middle East, communities are uniting to confront pressing challenges and build a more equitable future. In a region marked by rich cultural traditions and resilience, many still face barriers to basic needs, education, connectivity, and safety. Political instability, economic hardship, displacement, and climate impacts have left millions without consistent access to essential resources—yet grassroots organizations and humanitarian groups are rising to meet these needs with creativity, compassion, and determination. Bridges of Dignity brings together initiatives focused on improving quality of life, protecting human rights, and fostering equality. These projects support refugees and displaced families with shelter, food security, and safe spaces. They work to close the digital divide by providing internet access and digital literacy training. They supply educational materials for children and adults, ensuring that learning continues in times of crisis. They respond to international disasters with coordinated relief efforts, bringing aid to affected communities when it’s needed most. Many also champion gender equality, empowering women through vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and leadership opportunities. Every effort in this Cause shares a belief that dignity is not negotiable. Whether through immediate relief or long-term empowerment, these projects address the structural issues that perpetuate inequality while offering tangible, life-changing support. Supporting Bridges of Dignity means standing with those who are rebuilding lives, expanding access to opportunity, and working toward a Middle East where social welfare systems are stronger, equality is prioritized, and no one is left behind.
