<a href="https://dctrl.wtf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">DCTRL</a> (pronounced Decentral or D-Control) is a clubhouse, makerspace, hackerspace, events and co-working space in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Founded in 2014, DCTRL has grown to create an IRL decentralized community commons. With over 10 years of history, DCTRL has hosted hundreds of meetups in the past and continues hosting events to this day. It has a has a rich history, and features a Crypto museum with relics on display such as old ASIC’s, Bitcoin and Crypto memorabilia, hyper-inflationary currencies, and stickers galore. The space is run on donations and volunteers. Despite the challenging period during the pandemic lock-downs, we are now back on track to fully utilizing the space with several weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and annual events. All public events are free or donation based. Currently, one of our main weekly events open to the public is the <a href="https://x.com/EthVancouver" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ethereum Vancouver</a> Meetup (Thursday nights) where we have speakers present various topics regarding Ethereum, Web3 and current events related to the crypto ecosystem. Arrests of&nbsp;Storm and Pertsev are considered a <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2023/08/25/tornado-cash-co-founders-charged-in-the-us-with-more-than-1-billion-in-money-laundering/?sh=5e3d76187b99" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">direct attack</a> on the open-source development space.In May 2024,&nbsp;Pertsev was <a href="https://www.dlnews.com/articles/people-culture/alexey-pertsev-accused-of-laundering-1bn-at-tornado-cash/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">found guilty</a> of money laundering and received a max sentence of 64 months in prison.&nbsp;Roman Storm's trial in the US is scheduled for December 2024. Its outcome will set precedents for privacy in web3 and the freedom to publish code.&nbsp; <h2>How to Help</h2>This project&nbsp;is fundraising for Roman Storm's defense and the associated costs in preparation for his trial.
