<h2>What is Upe?</h2>Upe is a digital space for locals to crowdsource and curate community information that’s important to them. While developed areas have institutional infrastructure to provide this integral information, remote tourist destinations in Costa Rica do not.&nbsp;&nbsp; From quick access to local emergency numbers to updates on essential utilities like water service disruptions, <a href="https://u.pe" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Upe</a> (<a href="https://u.pe" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://u.pe</a>) is dedicated to ensuring such data remains transparent and available to everyone. Our mission is to create the tools local communities need to communicate with and activate their network through the following: <ul><li>﻿💻﻿ Local Contributor Integration: Encouraging more locals to join in, fulfilling information requests, and enriching our content.</li><li>﻿📅﻿ Community Events: Spearheading community meetups, hackathons, and quests.</li><li>﻿💬﻿ Local Feedback: A direct channel to the local pulse, understanding the information they deem crucial.</li><li>﻿👯﻿ Strategic Alliances: Carving out synergistic associations with local institutions and enterprises.</li><li>﻿🔍﻿ Knowledge Sharing: Consolidating our experiences and insights to disseminate within the expansive public goods arena.</li><li>﻿📢﻿ Community Engagement: Collaborating with local businesses to introduce voucher donations as a token of appreciation for community participation.</li></ul> <h2><img src="https://giveth.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmdNH1Hsa4ujgLqCkFtVh6q8XaFBuy552U9yVe5VQd6wwF"></h2><h2>Milestones</h2>SEASON 1 | June 2023We launched Season 1 with a group of 20 locals interested in sharing community knowledge. The results from our experiment were promising. Participants smashed two of Upe's previous monthly records:<ul><li>2X number of listings entered</li><li>2X new user sign-ups</li></ul>Their interactions and feedback was the signal we needed to continue the experiment into Season 2. SEASON 2 |&nbsp;July - December 2023&nbsp;﻿👈﻿ HAPPENING NOW Our mission for Season 2 is to foster a group of local contributors who will provide information about public service providers, NGOs and community events &amp; syndicate information to community calendars. Public Nouns is funding our pursuits: <a href="https://publicnouns.wtf/vote/20/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">read our proposal</a>.&nbsp; Here’s how we are meeting our goals: ﻿💻﻿ Local Contributors IntegrationWe are pleased to report that contributors are collecting bounties. Check out our <a href="https://lookerstudio.google.com/s/i8BJcxrlOSI" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Season 2 Leaderboard</a>. Contributors are already meeting our monthly quota for community events, and we are in low season. Moreover, they have been able to complete 75% of the public service bounties. Our contributor network needs to continue to grow to meet the demand of the upcoming high season. ﻿💬﻿ Local Feedback &amp; ﻿🔍﻿ Knowledge SharingAfter evaluating all the feedback from our Season 1 participants, our community has some great ideas that weren’t in the original playbook. Here are some requests that we have already honored and are iterating on<ul><li>﻿🙋﻿ A place to “ask questions.” Early feedback was Upe was great for finding answers, but there was no place to ask a question. So we created a <a href="https://f.u.pe/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">forum</a> for locals to come ask questions and have community discussions.</li><li>﻿📧﻿ A digest email of all community information. "Just give me something easy to consume” was a popular request. Our first digest was sent mid September, and hundreds of locals are receiving it weekly–with new ones signing up every day!&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>﻿💡﻿ Spotlight a Do-Gooder: Upe’s Kook of the Week Award We’re rebranding what it means to be a kook. Upe’s kooks are the local do-gooders. These vouchers will be distributed at a later date. ﻿💝﻿ SUPPORTING UPE&nbsp;All the money donated to Upe goes to supporting our community bounty board, tech stack, and operational costs.
